Pride = Selfishness

"Pride is really nothing more than a form of selfishness." -- John Maxwell

Why not start my newest blog with man's most common downfall? Pride is both a beautiful and ugly thing. I am proud of my nation. I am proud of my family. I am proud of my girlfriend. Parents are proud of their children. But people are also proud of their intelligence. Proud of their accomplishments. Proud of their college degree. The issue is we become proud of things when, in all actuality, we played a minute role in their successes. We want to claim successes to receive recognition but the only reason we want recognition is to feed our own egos, which are the last things that need to be fed. So, how about putting your plate of pride aside from time to time and picking up a glass of humility. Feed your pride to someone else in the form of a compliment. It might make you seem more selfless. Who knows? Maybe you will become more selfless.
